Bobo Center for Agriculture

The Center for Agriculture in Bobo, Burkina Faso is one of the primary projects at Grain of Hope. Many of our group trips spend time working at and meeting the people who run the Center. With 30 acres of land, our vision is to provide sustainable food production, employment, and training for Burkina’s people.

Bobo Center for Agriculture

Primary Objectives:

  • Develop agriculture and animal production that will sustain the needs of the staff, workers, and students of the center.
  • Develop agriculture and animal production that will create the cash flow needed to run the center and pay the staff and its workers.
  • Build and develop a model “village farm plot” that can provide all the food, fuel, fodder, and, fertilizer needed for a local sized family.
  • Coach and mentor villagers on site 2-3 months at a time in a model of agriculture and animal husbandry that they can be duplicated in their village without significant capital, external soil inputs, and advanced technology.
  • Coach and mentor Pastors & church leaders in this model so that they can apply it in their area of service.
  • Target a number of villages and then assist qualifying residents that are trained to establish a model farm in their village with a traveling agro-assist team.
  • When there are 3-5 villages that are being impacted with this approach and the villages value the change that is taking place, begin to do the same in another group of villages.
  • Hold short –term training events on site that will give larger groups of people simple ideas and/or methods to improve their ground and thus their harvest
